WHY PYTHIA? WHAT’S THE DIFFERENTIATOR?
Liz was a competitive track athlete growing up, and discovered CrossFit early in 2010, when she soon became an advanced coach and gym owner.
But with 18 years of yoga experience, and becoming a yoga instructor, she realized that the only way to maintain fitness is through proper alignment and mobility.
The uncomfortable truth is that CrossFit requires some general athleticism at the onset. Olympic weightlifting is effective and fashionable, but it is inarguably dangerous for beginners without a solid foundation.
Lifting heavier weights steadily has to reach some sort of apex, which often results in injury.
The community aspect of CrossFit and other outfits like Soul Cycle and Orange Theory are appealing, but what do other people's fitness levels really have to do with you? The pressures of social media run parallel with the trials we feel in modern day society. Pythia seeks to divert from this competitive nature that many popular group fitness organizations espouse.
While many popular workout programs are trends, ours is a "practice" in the same manner as yoga.
WHAT’S THE HYPE ALL ABOUT?
The Pythia Method is a comprehensive approach to fitness designed by Liz Mellen. Liz is as much of an athlete as she is a Classicist--a professor of Greek and Roman philosophy.
The Pythia Method is based upon ancient Stoic tenets of understanding yourself.
The first part of the program is addressing your nutritional habits, resetting your metabolism, and figuring out healthy, sustainable eating habits for the rest of your life. It all starts with food.
We focus on stretching, alignment, injury prevention, strength and conditioning. The Pythia Method is unlike any other.
We will spend a couple of weeks working on your flexibility and core stability, before lifting weights and burning calories.
We focus on turning fat into lean muscle, forging a solid foundation, incorporating breathing techniques, mobility, and building overall strength before moving weights.
But it all depends on you.
At Pythia, we offer a philosophical method that pertains to life: a human is the measure of all things.
One person's fitness level has nothing to do with your own.
Your esteem around your personal fitness should never rest on the achievements of others. Your goals, your struggles, and all of the obstacles holding you back are YOUR OWN.
We respect your privacy and turn our focus to the needs of the individual--this is our differentiator.
This is how the Pythia Method was created. We design a program specifically for you with proper assessment of your movement which we have streamlined from Opex Fitness, a personalized coaching program that we subscribe to, and added yoga, functional strength building, and metabolic conditioning into one.
How you move determines how you can exercise safely and consistently.
We hold you accountable to your only competitor, which is YOU-- with our guidance.
In a world of looking outward, the Pythia Method looks inward.
As the Pythia at Delphi reportedly said, "know thyself."
Let us help you lead yourself there.
